Sixty-eight Fudan Fuzhong alumni (from '79 to '14) and friends gathered at Scarlatto in Midtown Manhattan on Saturday April 12 for the Eighth Annual Spring Luncheon of the Fudan Fuzhong Overseas Foundation (FFOF).
Some travelled more than a thousand miles to Manhattan, and all arrived at 11:30am. As they checked in, many were thrilled to see friends who they haven't seen since graduating from Fuzhong. As they reconnect with old friends and introduce themselves to new ones, they sat down for family style appetizers.
Zheheng Shi ('07) welcomed all to the luncheon. Minhua Zhang ('00) presented the 2013 Annual Work Report on behalf of the Executive Committee. Minhua outlined the Foundation's challenges and opportunities in the coming years. He then reviewed activities in fund deployment (such as Wang Jialian Need-Based Scholarship, Social Contribution Award, Performing Arts Award, Student Resource Center, and H-Week) as well as various alumni-oriented activities. Minhua also reviewed the Foundation's financials and introduced its new Board as well as new Executive Committee.
Before and during Minhua's presentation, alumni and friends enjoyed delicious entrée. After that, the new Executive Committee team presented their new initiatives. Projects in fundraising were presented by Hang Qian ('06), those in fund deployment by Di Wu ('02), those in technology by Hai Shang ('06) and those in alumni relations by Qizhao "Susan" Weng ('08).
Finally, the new team played a video that looked back at many precious moments over the eight years since the inception of the Foundation. As in past years, the Spring Luncheon was enjoyable, inspiring and emotional. Alumni and friends supported the Foundation enthusiastically and generously. The event raised over US$11,000 for FFOF.
The foundation looks forward to seeing you all again next year!
