New York, NY - Mar.21 2015 Fudan Fuzhong Overseas Foundation (FFOF) hosted its 9th Annual Fundraising Luncheon, which engaged 75 alumni and friends at S. Dynasty in Midtown Manhattan and broke its historical attendance record. The Luncheon attracted alumni across all ages from '84 to '14 to make all the effort to travel to New York City and gather to celebrate this well-known reunion of the year.
Doris Ke ('08) welcomed all to the luncheon and introduced the agenda of the Luncheon:
· Speaker presentation: From Fudan to Harvard - Xiaoli Meng, Dean of the Harvard University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS) (Click here for Professor Meng's bio)
· FFOF 2014 recap and update - Hang Qian ('06) (Click here to download the presentation)
Professor Meng presented his own personal journey from Fudan to Harvard in his own entertaining style and concluded his speech with 7C's advices: Citizenship, Compassion, Creativity, Critical Thinking, Connect the Dots and Communicate.
Hang recapped the major achievements of FFOF (including Wang Jialian Need-Based Scholarship, Social Contribution Award, Performing Arts Award, Student Resource Center, Teaching Excellence Award (new!) and H-Week as well as various alumni-oriented activities plus one special alumni emergency support program: Lin Shaohong Donation Drive) and outlined the upcoming 2015 new initiatives: Career Panel, Alumni Souvenir Project etc. To find more information, click here to download the presentation.
It was the most successful luncheon yet in the history of FFOF from various perspectives: It is the first time ever FFOF designed a special alumni T-shirt dedicated to Fudan Fuzhong alumni and for fundraising purposes. The T Shirt design is inspired by the most famous element of Fudan Fuzhong, the Purplevine flower next to Fuzhong playground, which contains our Fuzhong alumi's memories and pride (Click here to see the design). The entire event marked a total donation of $12K from ticket sales, donation and sales of T-shirts, which also hit the historical record.
The foundation looks forward to a successful year of 2015 and continous efforts from all alumni to build a strong network to unite Fuzhong alumni and contribute back to the school.
